Robert Lang (born December 19, 1970 in Teplice, Czechoslovakia, now the Czech Republic) is a professional ice hockey centre in the NHL, playing for the Chicago Blackhawks.

 

He was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in 1990. His best season to date was the 2000–2001 season, when he scored 80 points. Currently playing for the Chicago Blackhawks, Lang played the 2002–2003 season and part of the 2003–2004 season for the Washington Capitals. He previously played for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Los Angeles Kings and the Boston Bruins. During the 2003–2004 season, he had led the NHL in scoring at the time of his trade from the Washington Capitals to the Detroit Red Wings, but shortly thereafter he was sidelined with a broken rib, and yielded the lead in scoring to eventual NHL MVP Martin St. Louis of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Lang is committed to off-ice training. He was named the top Czech player of the season and played in the NHL All-Star Game

 

Lang played on the Czech Republic's Olympic hockey team for three Olympics. The team won medals all three times: the 1992 Bronze Medal, the 1998 Gold Medal, and the 2006 Bronze Medal. Robert Lang and Detroit Red Wings teammate (and fellow Czech) Jiri Hudler are friends; Hudler spent time living in Lang's home, and Lang refers to Hudler as "my third son."[1] Lang became an unrestricted free agent on July 1, 2007 and the next day signed a 2 year deal with the Chicago Blackhawks
